Islamorada Offshore Fishing
An offshore fishing charter in Islamorada is a fun, action-packed experience that’s perfect for families, friends, and anglers of all skill levels. The trip usually starts early with a quick stop to catch live bait before heading out into the clear blue waters of the Atlantic. Once offshore, you’ll help set lines or watch as the crew flies kites and drifts live baits to attract colorful mahi-mahi, speedy wahoo, or acrobatic sailfish. There’s plenty of excitement for everyone on board, and the calm ride offshore offers stunning views of the Florida Keys along the way.
Each trip is customized to your group’s comfort and interests. Families with kids will enjoy steady action on reef species or smaller offshore fish, while more adventurous anglers can chase big-game pelagics in deeper water. We are patient, friendly, and happy to teach beginners how to bait hooks, fight fish, or reel in their first trophy. Whether it’s your family’s first fishing trip or a return visit to the Sportfishing Capital of the World, an Islamorada offshore charter is the perfect mix of fun, adventure, and time together on the water.
Target Species
Winter
Winter brings cooler water temperatures and an abundance of sailfish, king mackerel, and blackfin tuna. This is one of the best times of year for exciting, action-packed fishing trips, especially using kites and live bait to target sailfish near the reef edge. Families can also enjoy steady fishing for snapper and grouper on the reefs and wrecks, which stay active year-round and make for great table fare.
Spring
As the weather warms in late spring, mahi-mahi (dolphin fish) start to arrive offshore, kicking off one of the most popular fishing seasons in Islamorada. Blackfin tuna and wahoo remain strong, while amberjack begin stacking up on deeper wrecks. The water is calm and clear this time of year, making it ideal for family trips and first-time anglers.
Summer
Summer is prime mahi-mahi season, with big schools often found under weed lines and floating debris in the blue water. These colorful, hard-fighting fish are a blast for anglers of all ages. These Mahi Mahi fishing charters are our favorite trips of the year, and are usually a mix between Mahi Mahi and offshore fishing on our way out / back to the marina.
Fall
Fall is a transitional season where the fishing stays steady across multiple species. Mahi-mahi and tuna continue to bite offshore, while kingfish, sailfish, and wahoo start to return as water temperatures drop. Reef fishing also heats up again, with excellent catches of yellowtail and mutton snapper. The lighter crowds and pleasant weather make fall one of the most enjoyable times for a relaxed, family-friendly day offshore.
Where We Fish
Our offshore trips typically have us running 5-10 miles offshore, but we are happy to curate the day to your group’s preferences. Summer Mahi Mahi trips often go further offshore to the gulf stream, about 20 miles, but the summer seas are often very calm making for an enjoyable and safe ride!
